City bikes are bicycles designed for general-purpose utility or commuter cycling on paved and unpaved roads, paths, and trails. Also known under such names as Hybrid bike or Commuter bike, they take design features from both a road and mountain bike, with the goal of making a robust bike for general commuting and transportation. In general, city bikes use the mountain bike's triple chainset together with the mtb bars giving a more upright position than found on a road bike, making them great for urban and leisure use. They also use a 700C wheel diameter for higher speeds, but use a wider rim and tyre for increased strength when used on canal paths or for light trail use, other items used from mtb's are the brakes, with disc or v-brake being chosen.
