The clincher rim is completely new with further enhanced aerodynamics, resulting from careful shaping of the rim profile to match popular tire brands and widths. As a side bonus, the new rim shape is over 15% stiffer without any weight penalty. A hand crafted Carbon rim is paired with M2cm technology to a totally new alloy extrusion resulting in an aerodynamically superior 40mm deep clincher rim over 100 grams lighter than the average 30mm deep conventional alloy rim. A precision machined and welded aluminum braking surface provides sure and dependable braking. This welded and machined rim is the first ever available on a structural carbon fiber rim. M2cm technology incorporates a custom post machining operation that finishes each one of these 40mm rims with a perfectly parallel, machined braking surface. This is found nowhere else in the world.

Lateral stiffness is more than double than that of traditional rims while the vertically compliant carbon element ensures a comfortable riding experience over the all too common rough roads.

The Zipp Advanced Technology Group engineers set out to enhance control and feel through improved consistency of the tire contact patch, while simultaneously working to filter higher frequency, low amplitude vibrations and softening the blows of low frequency, high amplitude impacts. They call the result VcLc technology. In the real world this results in a wheel which dramatically reduces rider fatigue, particularly in the posterior area not to mention the hands, arms and neck, while simultaneously improving cornering over rougher roads due to more control of the tire contact patch.

The 303 Clincher wheelset is designed for maximum aerodynamic performance in a Mid-v rim while reducing the effects of cross winds. Clincher tires exhibit different aerodynamic properties than tubular tires, so we subtly alter the shape of the clincher profile to maximize the aerodynamic characteristics of clincher tires. Like its tubular sibling the clincher 303's are built to attack corners and heel over into and out of the corners like no other aerodynamic wheelset. Straight into the wind and at minimal angles a regenerative airfoil allows the rim to appear deeper to the wind than its actual depth. From the side, this same regenerative airfoil allows the rim to appear shallower thereby improving the rims ability to heal over into corners and allowing the rim to remain relatively non-reactive to the effects of cross winds.
